Traditional Thai Massage
Thai Massage has been practised in Thailand for centuries, at Buddhist temples (Wats) - the centres of traditional medicine (click here for history)
It combines:
- deep effective presses
- with yoga-like stretches
- and joint manipulation.
You are fully dressed, on a futon mat, as with shiatsu.
Benefits
- Feels wonderful, relaxing yet energising
- Enhances circulation
- Stretches muscles effectively, hence treats muscle tightness,
reduces stiffness, enhances flexibility
Why does Thai Massage work?
Just about everyone feels they are not as mobile as they could be. Usually this is because their muscles have become stiff, lost flexibility and become chronically shortened, thereby reducing range of movement about a joint. This is often caused by overuse of particular muscle groups, due to RSI, poor posture or over-training during exercise. This effect is reversible by regular stretching and deep effective massage.
Thai Massage is a systematic method of stretching the major muscles of the body, freeing up specific areas of tension.
Thai massage can treat: RSI; sports injuries; upper & lower back pain; neck & shoulder pain; headaches; sciatica; relief of symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, by gently improving mobility of joints.
Thai massage complements physiotherapy, osteopathy & sports massage. Heather's client list includes osteopaths and other therapists
